Dear Kathryn & Nohemi~

I hope that you had successful hours at your internship site today. What did you wear?

Please remember to read all those papers I gave you--and fill-in some of the forms. Bring them to next seminar. I'd also like your internship schedule.

Have a great weekend--You've earned all 15 pts. for our first meeting! (Don't forget to post at least once before our next meeting.)~Susan

Hello all yesterday was great. My outfit was a black pinstripe pair of Bermuda shorts, a black and white shirt with a geometric pattern and a black pare of pumps.

There is a definite possibility that I will get paid through a contract.

Dear Nohemi & Kathryn~

Hopefully you have received a telephone call from Maria, the Business Division secretary, alerting you that our Seminar has been cancelled. Although the 1-unit seminar (AOM 55) has been cancelled by administrators due to low enrollment, you are still enrolled in two units of coop with me as the "instructor of record."

Toni and I are working out how you can earn the 1-unit--so that you can earn your certificate and/or degree this semester. By Monday at 5 p.m., we plan to have an answer for you.

I'd like to meet with you both. Instead of meeting in V115, let's meet in my office V26 on Monday, August 25 from 5-6 p.m. If possible, bring your internship site address/phone, your training plan with two objectives, the days/times you plan to work your coop hours, and a completed "Information Sheet."

You may call or e-mail me if you have questions. ~Susan

Hello, I volunteered Tues and Thurs and I really liked it. I met mostly all of the people their and they are all nice specially my supervisor.
On my first day my supervisor was letting me know the types of programs they use to make reports, we got to introduce each other and know more about ourselves. I found out that she didnt know how to use Excel, Access, nor PowerPoint. I was a little surprised. I taught her some of the basics of Excel.

On thursday, I got to type some personal data in the program they use to makeor edit reports. This day was a pretty easy day. I like it so far.

Thank you for posting. Isn't it wonderful to know that while others don't know the major computer applications--you do? Does the office have Microsoft Office installed on the computers? If so, what version?

What did you wear?

(Please watch your spelling, abbreviations, and capitalization; possibly you should type your text in Word, F7, then copy and paste your text to the blog.)

I look forward to seeing you Monday! ~Susan

Today I am wearing a nice khaki Capri pant, and a white shirt with buttons. I’d say I look very casual.
I have been entering every day in programs called Presynct and WSSG. Presynct is a place where the police clerk can view, e-mail, fax or send an actual report done by a police. WSSG is a dispatch log where they monitor, look at cases that are completed, not completed or cleared. We have also used Excel 2007 to make a document called “Practice cites fees”. However, my supervisor also uses the fax wizard, fax machine, and the internet to open her e-mail.
I have been having a really good time here.

Today, I am wearing a brown khaki pant and a black shirt with a little belt around the waist.
I spoke to two counselors, Charlie and Christina; however, Christina is the one that knows how my Ed planner was, so she told me that I am good. Basically, at the end they all reminded me not to forget to apply for graduation.

This week and last week I have been learning new tasks like putting labels on envelopes by sliding them in a machine, then I typed a new employment application since the current one has some words faded away. I used text wrapping to add the logo on the application, set up leader tabs and set the margins so that more information can fit in each page. I also made it landscape just like the other one. In addition, I filed reports, tickets, and misc. documents in numeric form for the first time. And I have been using a type writer to fill in confidential information on the registration receipt for people who have been narcotics, committed arson, or are sex offenders. All of the information I needed was in the Register Annual Update Form.

Mrs. Kline, I need your help with Access! One of the workers asked me if I know how to use Access, but I am unsure of what they want.
They showed me three stack of invoices and each one I'm thinking to make it one account (they are invoices), and I need to just see if there are any doubles. For example their are four columns: SKU, QTY, PRODUCT, AND UNITS. I need to see if their are more than one SKU with the same ID number; however, I don't know if each account has to be made in one table or in three tables separately to find what they want.

At Thu Sep 18, 11:57:00 AM, Blogger Nohemi said...

Hi Mrs. Kline, I decided to do the task in Excel instead, because I have to copy and paste a lot of information over and over, and it's more simpler like that. However, I'll let you know when I'm done.

On the other hand, this week I have been answering the telephone, typed a facsimile, used the fax wizard, and did some sorting in Excel. I was on my own on Tuesday because my supervisor was sick.

I have been doing well at work and I would say dressing business casual. I am working in Access and FrontPage and doing a lot of filing. I am learning new things like how to deal with coworkers and people coming in to the office inquiring about different things relating to my job.

Susan I got your message from Bob about getting in touch with you I will try to call tomorrow Wednesday 24.

Today, I had to call all of the applicants who wanted to apply for police officers. I basically had to let them know about an oral interview that’s going to be held within a month. Then, I was asked to do a report in Excel because my supervisor wanted it to be sorted in alphabet. I’m not done with it yet, but next week I will be for sure.

On Tuesday, I did some filing, and worked in the Excel document that one of the police officers needed for the reason that she had new information for me to add.

Hello all
Work is becoming a series of interesting events. The newest is that my boss/supervisor is leaving to a new job. We are all very happy for him and it has put some new duties on my shoulders. It should be an interesting next couple of weeks after he leaves. Other than that it is all going well. I am working with Access, FrontPage, and occasionally Excel.

It was kind of slow this week; therefore, I’ve been doing the same tasks. However, the same police officer needs me to do another Excel document for her, because she has another folder with different information, so that is keeping me busy for there’s many typing to do.

For this week, I did some filing, used the type writer to enter confidential information on a registration receipt that sex offenders get to keep as a copy. This receipt has to do with the Register Annual Update Form. I also made some mailing labels, put labels on envelopes to mail them, and did a flyer.

At Fri Oct 24, 12:48:00 PM, Blogger Nohemi said...

On the tenth week, I typed a questionnaire of seventeen questions and an invoice. I made sure that there was two inches of space left for the header in the invoice. I also used the copy machine to make copies of a flyer for children at the elementary school. This flyer was about “Halloween Safety Tips.” I also, worked on the new Excel project that one of the police officers wants me to do for the reason that she finds it easier to find all of the information she needs. Something else I did was enter information in a program called West Covina. I had to click on UPROP after because that’s where the information goes from the people that got cited. Some of the information I entered was name, description, serial #, quantities, brand, model, type, and article #.

Of course, you may ask anyone for letters of recommendation. (I hope that you are able to get one from your internship site.)

Thanks for posting!

For this week I had to enter information in the West Covina program. However, instead of being in “UCASE” where I find or make new cases, I was in “UPAWN.” Right here, I entered confidential information of people that pawn items in pawning stores. For example, once a person pawns a bracelet and a drill, the cashier makes two receipts where he/she basically enters the description, type of article, quantities, loan number, store number, brand, and model. Then, I transfer all that information in “UPAWN.” I also did other tasks this week, which were to file reports, memos, and parking tickets. While I was filing, I had to look for reports that were exactly the same to stay only with one copy, and shred the duplicate. And, I also used the type writer.

I don't go to school those days, and it is hard for me to get a ride.

Dear Nohemi~

I believe that we have mis-communicated! I thought the "meeting on Monday, 11/17" was at your site! Evidently, you wish to meet with me at school? I just looked at my calendar and I have meetings 12:30-1 and 4-5 p.m. on that day. What days do you come to school? What times work for you?

I was hoping that your site evaluation could be done on a Tuesday or Thursday before noon.

Now, about letters of recommendation: I hope that someone at your internship site will write one for you.

Your last message referred to a letter of recommendation, but then it appears that you're discussing a letter of application. To answer that question: yes, a generic letter of application will suffice for your portfolio.

Your idea about meeting sounds great, as I'm afraid that we're getting confused.

Hope to hear from you soon! ~Susan

Even though Tuesday was a holiday and my supervisor had her day off; I still went to my intern site and stayed at the office with the police officers to do my hours. I ended up working on the Excel project that one of the officers needs for an investigation. This one will take me more time because all of the information is in a big binder; but I am having no difficulty in doing them. And on Thursday, I finished entering data in West Covina for pawning.
In spite of this, I already emailed you the directions for my site. Have a nice day.
